Don Renaud along with four other members (Peter Maarsman, Margaret Birrell, Jane Dyson and Ben Doyle) of the Coalition Against No Fault’s (CANF) steering committee met with a director from the BC Ministry of Attorney General in regards to the ongoing goal of having proper wrongful death legislation implemented in BC.  The campaign to replace the current Family Compensation Act with an entirely new act to govern wrongful death cases began to develop two years ago with a grassroots organization of affected family members. Also in attendance at the meeting were parents of a wrongful-death victim (Robert & Rose White) who provided details of their tragic case involving their daughter and thereby established part of the reason why new legislation is much needed.

As a result of the meeting, the ministry’s representative advised that the government will, in June, issue a discussion paper on this issue.
