The first of hopefully many meetings took place on September 29, 2006 where 12 of the people in attendance were family members who have joined the Wrongful Death Reform Group.  It was an emotional and humbling experience for those who attended.  Victims shared their unfortunate stories prompting them to join the group but amidst the sadness of loss there was also a flicker of hope.  Just knowing that one was not alone and being able to talk openly to others about the tragic circumstances involving their loved ones brought new meaning to the campaign and made the fight all the more powerful to seek change in BC.

As a follow-up to the meeting, CANF issued a news release on October 4, 2006 to outline its desire for change with regard to family compensation and as well, sent letters to Attorney General Wally Oppal and Deputy Attorney General Allen Seckel as a means of formally requesting changes in this area.
